East Mississippi residents have a chance to win a one-of-a-kind quilt being raffled off to benefit the Friends of Lauderdale County Animal Control.
Created by Christine Campbell and longarm sewn by Piddle Sticks Quilting, the homemade quilt will be given to one lucky winner in a drawing set for July 4.
Lauderdale County Animal Control Director Rocky Rockette said funds raised through the raffle will go to help reduce Lauderdale County’s pet overpopulation by providing low cost spay and neuter vouchers for local residents.
Not everyone can afford to have their pets spayed or neutered, Rockette said, and providing financial assistance to those residents ultimately reduces pet populations and the number of animals coming through the shelter.
Tickets cost $5 each or three for $10 and can be purchased online through the Community Foundation of East Mississippi or from the Lauderdale County Animal Control Shelter.
Rockette said he wants thank Campbell and Piddle Sticks Quilting for making the quilt and providing it for the raffle, as well as all those who have purchased tickets so far. Every dollar goes to support the shelter and its efforts to make Lauderdale County a better place for animals.
