Heat advisory issued through Tuesday as temps climb

Dangerous heat is expected throughout Lauderdale County over the next few days, with the National Weather Service in Jackson issuing a heat advisory from 11 a.m. Monday through 9 p.m. Tuesday.

Forecasted temperatures are set to reach as high as 97 degrees, and high humidity will push heat indexes to as much as 108 degrees across the central and eastern parts of the state.

Residents are encouraged to drink plenty of water, stay in air conditioned areas and stay out of the sun whenever possible. Those going outside should wear lightweight, loose clothing and try to limit strenuous activities during the hottest parts of the day.
