Compass, MCC to launch MEI training program

East Mississippi residents looking for work or a change of career can learn more about job opportunities in and around data centers as Compass Datacenters and Meridian Community College launch a new Mechanical, Engineering and Information Technology (MEI) Data Center Pathway Program July 31.

Initially launched as a partnership with Texas State Technical College, Compass’ MEI program is designed specifically to train and certify workers for in-demand jobs in the data center field. One of the fastest growing industries globally, data centers need workers to maintain HVAC systems, repair and maintain electrical components and IT specialists, among other careers.

Since beginning, the program has grown into a collaborative effort with other industry leaders including Siemens, Salute, Schneider Electric, CBRE and more.

With work well underway in Meridian on a new data campus, Compass’ MEI program is coming to Meridian, with Meridian Community College set to welcome its first group of students this fall.

MCC, Compass and community partners will celebrate the launch of the new program on Friday, July 31, beginning at 10:30 a.m., with a career fair following from 3-7 p.m. The career fair will continue Saturday, August. 1 from 8 a.m. to noon.

The career fair will allow employers, students, educators and job seekers an opportunity to make connections, learn about potential opportunities and gain valuable insight to help guide future plans.
