Community welcomes Posh Point Needlepoint

Lauderdale County business leaders welcomed another small business to the community with a ribbon cutting for Posh Point Needlepoint on Monday in downtown Meridian. Located on 22nd Avenue across from Dumont Plaza, the shop offers a variety of needlepoint supplies, patterns, thread and more.

Owners Katelyn and Brennan Ullrich relocated to Lauderdale County from Louisville, Kentucky about 18 months ago and found their home in the community. With Katelyn driving the creative side, the couple decided to open a business and turned their vision into reality.

“It’s crazy to think of, crazy to say, and crazy to be here now, because like two weeks ago it was like, ‘No.’ A week ago, it was ‘No,’ and it really wouldn’t have happened without everybody’s help as well,” said Brennan Ullrich.

Getting to Monday’s ribbon cutting wouldn’t have been possible without the help of friends and others in the community, Katelyn said, and thanks is owed to everyone who contributed.

Craig Hitt, chief administrative officer for the City of Meridian, said Posh Point brings a new investment to downtown Meridian and gives residents and visitors another reason to visit the growing district.

“I haven’t seen a lot of this activity in the last few years, but it’s great to see it coming back, but obviously you’ve got a lot of folks following you.” he said. “Congratulations on this opportunity that you have. Thank you for coming downtown and for being a part of us, and anything that we can do from the mayor’s office or from the council to support you going forward, please let us know.”

Posh Point is open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday. It is located at 400 22nd Avenue.
