September is voter registration month, and the Lauderdale County Circuit Clerk is reminding voters they need to be registered where they live to vote at the correct precinct. Ballots must be cast at the correct precinct for their vote to count.
Residents are urged to check the status of their voter registration. If they have moved out of town, across the street, changed apartments or maybe to another county, please let the Circuit Clerk office know.
The Circuit Clerk’s office has received a list of voters from the Secretary of State office that were sent from the USPS office that has made several voters inactive. Residents can reach out to the Circuit Clerk office at 601-482-9731 to check on their voting status.
The Circuit Clerk’s office will be open on Saturday, Oct. 3 for voter registration. The deadline to register to vote is Monday, Oct. 5.
Lauderdale County voters will participate in the general election on Nov. 3 for County Court Judge and School Board District 5, as well as U.S. Senate and U.S. House of Representatives.
That ballot will also include a special election for Justice Court Judge and Circuit Clerk. The deadline to qualify for School Board, Justice Court Judge and Circuit Clerk is Aug. 20.
