Tax Collector announces dates for 2026 Delinquent Tax Sale

Lauderdale County Tax Collector Doris Spidle on Tuesday announced notice of upcoming land sale and important dates. This year’s land sale will be held online beginning 8:30 a.m., Aug. 31, pursuant to the laws of the state of Mississippi.

Ahead of the sale, the Tax Collector’s office is encouraging residents to review the list of important dates:

 

July 24 — Last day to pay land taxes with a personal check

July 30 — Last day to pay land taxes online before name is printed in The Meridian Star

July 31 — Last day to pay land taxes in office before name is printed in The Meridian Star

Aug. 5 — Names with unpaid taxes will appear in The Meridian Star

Aug. 12 — Names with unpaid taxes will appear for a final time in The Meridian Star

Aug. 28 — Absolute last day to pay taxes in office with credit card or cash before land sale

How to sign up to be a bidder for the land sale:

Aug. 1 — First day to register to bid online at www.govease.com

Aug. 1 — Registration training is available at www.govease.com/bidderhelp

Aug. 28 — Absolute last day to sign up for the land sale on GovEase

Aug. 31 — GovEase online tax sale begins at 8:30 a.m. and continues until all properties are sold
