Local pet owners have additional resources to help care for their furry friends after the Lauderdale County Animal Control Shelter announced low-cost spay and neuter vouchers are available for both dogs and cats.
Spaying and neutering pets is strongly encouraged as overpopulation of dogs and cats strains animal shelters and rescues throughout the state and region.
The Gladys Carlisle Bowyer Endowment Fund, administered through the Community Foundation of East Mississippi, is available to provide low-cost spay and neuter vouchers for Lauderdale County residents to help reduce the pet overpopulation in the community.
Lauderdale County Animal Control Shelter also has spay and neuter vouchers available through the Petco Love, a nonprofit organization that provides grants and other support to animal health, adoptions and other causes. The Petco Love vouchers can be redeemed at Collinsville Veterinary Clinic and cover 50% of the base cost for spay and neuter procedures. Vouchers are good for up to a week after they have been issued.
