Ensuring Lauderdale County departments have the resources they need to provide services to residents is a complex responsibility, and county leaders are recognizing Purchasing Clerk Stephanie Jackson for her work and commitment to professional development.
As Lauderdale County’s purchasing clerk, Jackson works with departments and vendors to ensure goods and services are acquired in accordance with county policies and applicable purchasing requirements. Her responsibilities include coordinating bids for equipment and services, maintaining vendor relationships, organizing proof of publication, issuing purchase orders and assisting with purchasing needs of county departments.
The Purchasing Department plays an important role in the county’s day-to-day operations. From equipment and supplies to contracted services, county departments rely on the purchasing process to obtain the resources needed to serve the public. Jackson’s work helps coordinate that process while supporting accountability and responsible use of public funds.
Jackson recently earned the 2026 NIGP Forum Leadership Path badge through NIGP: The Institute for Public Procurement, an organization dedicated to advancing the public procurement profession through education, professional development and resources.
The Leadership Path was part of the educational programming offered at the NIGP Forum 2026, held Aug. 23-26 in Columbus, Ohio. NIGP’s 2026 Forum included a Leadership learning path focused on developing skills important to public procurement professionals.
Leadership is an important component of public procurement because procurement professionals often work across departments and with a wide range of stakeholders. NIGP emphasizes leadership competencies such as communication, relationship management, problem-solving, driving change, innovation and agility.
Jackson’s achievement reflects her commitment to expanding her knowledge and strengthening the skills she brings to her role with Lauderdale County. Her continued education also helps support the county’s goal of maintaining an effective, accountable and professional purchasing operation.
