Lauderdale County residents visiting the Government Complex now have additional parking options following the completion of a parking expansion project designed to improve access to county services.
Additional parking spaces have been added to Lot B, located between the Lauderdale County Government Center and the Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Department. The expanded parking area is expected to make it easier for residents to find convenient parking, particularly during busy times such as court days.
The project also added 12 new handicap-accessible parking spaces in Lot B, improving access for residents and visitors with mobility limitations. With the additional spaces, the Government Center now has 19 publicly available handicap parking spaces.
The Lauderdale County Board of Supervisors approved the project following concerns raised by residents about limited parking during court sessions and the distance some mobility-impaired visitors were required to travel from available parking spaces to the Government Center.
Visitors to the Government Complex are encouraged to park in Lot A or Lot B. Parking spaces located behind the Government Center are reserved for county employees and should remain available for staff.
For security purposes, public access to the Government Center is limited to the front entrance of the building. Visitors are asked to use the designated front entrance when conducting business with county offices.
