Lauderdale County is proud to partner with Compass Datacenters on this transformational project in our community. Construction of the data campus will employ more than 1,000 Mississippi workers and generate hundreds of permanent, well-paying positions for people in Meridian and Lauderdale County.
Working in cooperation with our career and technical education and workforce development sectors, Compass’ MEI (Mechanical, Electrical and IT) program will also create new career pathways that prepare local students for highly demanded, skilled jobs both locally and abroad.
From the beginning of this project, Compass has expressed a desire to be an integral part in the community, and the company’s efforts toward sustainability and minimizing impacts to its neighbors are evidence of its sincerity. We appreciate the commitment to proper stewardship and responsible use of our local resources, as well as the investments being made to our utility infrastructure which will benefit all county residents.
This project will have a generational impact on Lauderdale County. The tax dollars generated from the data campus will mean better roads and bridges, more resources for our public schools and increased quality of life for county residents. It means less burden on residents while allowing county officials to carry out essential services.
The Compass project also positions Lauderdale County as a leader in one of the fastest growing industries in the world and highlights our unique capability to provide both the high-speed data access and skilled workforce needed for future growth.
