JOB DESCRIPTION
BASIC FUNCTION:
- Enforce County ordinance and State Laws dealing with animals; maintain records and reports; Euthanize, impound, feed, clean and dispose of animals as needed.
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES:
- Enforce County ordinances; capture and impound sick, injured, stray or trapped domestic and non-domestic animals.
- Respond to and investigate complaints from the public regarding stray, sick, injured and abused animals; investigate cases of cruelty, neglect, abandonment, animal bites and barking dogs.
- Explain various ordinances regarding animal control to the public.
- Write file charges for violations of County ordinances related to animals; respond to court requests for contested of these charges.
- Removal of deceased animals from the County shelter; assist the public in trapping domestic and non-domestic animals.
- Euthanize severely injured, diseased, vicious, and unwanted animals.
- Quarantine biting animals for observation according to established guidelines.
- Prepare and maintain a variety of files, records and reports regarding impounded animals, animal bites, quarantines, investigations, and daily statistics.
- Operate and maintain an animal control vehicle; utilize a variety of animal control devices and equipment including leash, muzzle, traps, catch pole, net, radio and other equipment.
- Perform related duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL ABILITIES:
- Lifting heavy animals upwards of 100+ Lbs. pushing and pulling animals into truck; kneeling and crouching to pick up animals.
HAZARDS:
- Working around potentially vicious animals including dogs, cats, horses, snakes and other animals and pets. Working in extreme temperature
Job Description for Telecommunicator
Position Purpose
A staff of Mississippi State Certified Telecommunicators is required to operate the E-911 Communications Center in order to facilitate the call taking and dispatching of first responder emergency personnel.
Position Summary
A Telecommunicator is responsible for accurate and timely response to all requests for assistance or for E-911 related information from emergency first responders and the general public. Requests may arrive thought a variety of telephone lines, radio frequencies or in person. This position:
- Is permanent and full-time
- Reports to the Lead Telecommunicator and Shift Supervisor Manager
- Performs 100% of its duties in the office
- Operates in a high-stress environment
Major Duties
Perform Emergency Telecommunicator operations by:
- Operating E-911 computer systems
- Operating E-911 phone and radio systems
- Answering emergency and non-emergency telephone and radio transmissions
Required Certifications
- National Crime Information Center (NCIC)/Mississippi Justice Information Center (MJIC) Certification
- Mississippi State Dispatcher Certification
Required Knowledge
- High School Diploma or GED
- Proper grammar and use of English in speaking and writing
- All systems required to perform items listed under Major Duties
- General computer operations
- Basic knowledge of city and county first responder and other departments, including their emergency response policies and procedures
Required Skills and Abilities
- Maintain confidentiality
- Make decisions within time restraints

- Perform Emergency Telecommunicator operations o Operate the Computer Aided Dispatch and Graphical Information Systems software, including: ▪ Zetron MAX Call Taking Management Information System
- CentralSquare One Solution CAD
- Professional and Technical Software (PTS) Solutions suite
- Transmit and receive radio and telephone transmissions
- Effectively process all telephone or radio transmissions as trained and in compliance with standard operating procedures
- Maintain Mississippi State Dispatcher Certification
- Maintain a good working relationship with the public and all government and private industries
- Operate office equipment such as a printer, facsimile and shredder
This essential function is the foundation of E-911 and is the position which most emergency responders and the general public are familiar with.

Road Department- Equipment Operator
The Road Equipment Operator is a full-time permanent position in the Road Department. The immediate supervisor for this position is the Road Foreman. The person in this position is supervised on a daily basis, and has no supervisory authority. The Road Equipment Operator works regular hours, year-round, and occasionally works overtime and occasionally at night. The person in this position never works shift work, and is on call occasionally. 0% of the work in this position is indoors, and 100% is outdoors. The position has accountability for safety and legal issues related to the work for which this position is responsible.
There is a daily exposure to chemicals and/or hazardous material. This position is exposed to anti- freeze and hydraulic fluid associated with construction equipment. The Road Equipment Operator must have a high school diploma or its equivalent and a driver's license. In addition, 0 years of experience is required or recommended. The stress level associated with this position is average. Physical work required for this position includes extensive shoveling, climbing on top of various equipment, and lifting of poles, signs, and various other materials.

Characteristics of Work
This professional work involves the prosecution of cases in Lauderdale County Youth Court. Work includes but is not limited to interviewing clients, interviewing any other person(s) associated with the case including law enforcement, reviewing case files, filing Motions, and trying cases. Applicants must exercise initiative and judgement in the conduct of all duties performed.
Applicants must also be willing to be trained to perform the essential duties. The Court will provide the necessary training. Office space and computer are also provided.
Minimum Requirements
Applicant must have a Juris Doctor from an American Bar Association (ABA) accredited school of law. Applicant must be willing to work and if hired is responsible for providing a qualified replacement if he/she cannot attend Court on the prescribed days. Lauderdale County Youth Court Judges will interview and evaluate all applicants to determine whether they meet minimum requirements. Applicant must be familiar with computerized legal research. Applicant must have basic computer skills, be familiar with computerized software, including word processing and preferably understand the Court System.
